Tim Smith is a Christian graphic designer with an old-fashioned love for scissors, glue and letterforms. The British expatriate earned a BFA in Graphic Design at the Rhode Island School of Design, and also holds a BFA in Painting from University of New Hampshire.
His fascination with the hand-made constantly leads him away from his Adobe suite for long enough that by the time he returns, it functions as merely the icing on his proverbial cake of design.
Having recently relocated to NC from Providence, RI, Tim is seeking freelance and full time-work with Christian ministries in the Charlotte vicinity. His aim is to help change the way the Lord’s message is communicated visually to this generation. He has a long way to go.
He also is a champion badminton player and loves his wife, and Lady Grey tea with milk and sugar.
Taoism on Niphal? Naaa, better than that. Andy Rutledge cuts to the quick in his recent post, “The Tao of Deadlines”.

(Yes, I am exhausted so it seems funnier)

So if you hadn’t heard, all self employed web designers work in their underwear and don’t use deodorant. This is just another example of how they are an unruly type, not to be trusted. But if you did trust one, and you found out that “Pixel-Pixie_009″ and “CSS Sumo” from your want ad posting live in Timbuktu and Nagasaki, respectively, and you are in Saskatchewan, baring language barriers, the only thing that separates you from each other is a good conferencing system.
I use Yugma with great success. Eric Carroll uses Yuuguu with equal success.
Check them both out. I’m too stinky and sweaty today to venture over to Yuuguu, but Eric swears by them. And Eric knows what he’s talking about.
Have no fears, they do different things. I see it like comparing Basecamp to Backpack. There are overlapping features and both are a find. This time around, they are by different companies that both like baby talk.
Enjoy.
Oh, wow. I almost forgot. Eric really wanted me to post that he offered up the yuuguu link. This guy… if he’s not MENSA, well, at least he’s one of a kind and irreplaceable. Pure genius. So genius, Apple has asked to copyright his name in hopes of changing their store’s offering to “Eric Bar”.
Speaking of that, 6pm tomorrow… are you in line yet?
Newsmap does a beautiful job capturing the landscape of world news. I heard that this site is old news via SVN, but so be it. Sometimes the old is new and the new is old. No I haven’t been offline, I’ve just been busy. And this site kinda captures what a day in my life (information architecture-wise not content-wise) feels like. Maxed out with content. The horizon full of data.
But yet, my kids are out of school and I just got a used surfboard so if I’m not working or chillin’ with my fam, I’ll be trying to do something I’ve always wanted to do, surf.
With waves, not kb.
What are you doing this summer?
Great article on Speak Up, funny links and all about type.
